To specify the file that you want to lock :
Press on the "Add File(s)" button of the main screen and then select the files you want to add. You can also press on the "Add Folder" button to add the entire contents of specific folders.
You can also drag-and-drop document files or folders to add them.
To remove a file from the list, select it on the grid and then press the "Remove" button. To clear all files from the list press the "Clear" button.
To import list of files from Text Files press on the "Import List" button of the toolbar or select "Import List of Files from Text Files" from the "File" menu.
One file path should be on each line of the list file.
e.g.
c:\documents\document1.docx
c:\documents\file2.pptx
c:\documents\file3.dat
To import from Excel files select "Import List of Files from Excel Files".
One file path should be on each row of the Excel file.
On the tab "Password" you can specify the password for the files. Standard EXE Locker also shows you the strength of the password with a color. The color should be green.
The password should include alphanumeric characters, non-alphanumeric characters, upper and lower case letters and it should have a length of at least eight characters
To securely delete the original file after it has been converted to a locked standalone executable file, check the "Delete Original File" document. You can also obfuscate the output filename when you check "Obfuscate Filename."
Moreover, you can also specify the output folder where the generated locked document executable file will be placed.
Finally, press on the "Lock" button and wait for the application to do its job.
In the end, the output folder will open in Windows Explorer.
To unlock the file simply run the executable file. Then enter the password.
You can then unlock the file, unlock and execute the file or unlock all files of the current folder and subfolders with the same password.
You can also easily unlock all files of the current project by pressing on the "Unlock All" button of the toolbar and then wait for the application to unlock the files.
To encrypt the converted executable contents with Triple DES encryption algorithm go to the tab "Options" and uncheck the "Do not Encrypt File (FASTER)" checkbox.
To protect converted executable from modification go to tab "Restrictions" and check the "Prevent Executable from Modification" checkbox.
If someone changes the converted executable it will stop to run.
It is also possible to specify time and date restrictions for the converted executable.
For example, you can specify that will be possible to be opened only after a specific date.
To do that go to the tab "Restrictions" and specify date and time restrictions such as "Allow Opening from Date", "Allow Opening Till Date", "Allow Opening From Time".
It is also possible to specify security restrictions for the converted executable. For example, a supervisor can specify that the converted executable will only run on specific computers to elevate security.
Go to the tab "Restrictions" and there you can specify to allow viewing only for specific usernames, domain names, computer names or specific computers based on their machine signatures.
You can also specify to require UAC admin permissions for Open, on the tab "Restrictions".
To get the machine signature a computer go to tab "Restrictions" and press on the "Get Machine Signature" to get the machine signature of the current computer.
Alternatively, if you want to get the machine signature of a computer where Standalone EXE Locker is not installed, copy and run on this computer the GetMachineSignature.exe program that is in the Standalone EXE Locker directory.
You can also customize GUI of the converted executable.
Go to tab "GUI" and there you can specify "EXE Icon" of the converted executable, message on start, message on end, about box text, window title.
You can also specify to show a splash screen and specify the font color and splash screen background color and the splash screen text.
The application saves and remembers the information of the locked files that are currently on the list on application exit.
You can also save the information e.g. passwords e.t.c. and options of the locked files to a project for later re-use.
To do that select the "Save Project" and "Open Project" menu items from the "File" menu.
To set an application password that will be required in order to open the application, check the "Ask for Application Password" option of the "Options" menu.
Afterwards, specify the new password.
Standalone EXE Document Locker can also be executed from the command line.
Therefore, it can be included in scripts and batch files.
Locks, password protects and encrypts files and converts them to a standalone executable file.

To watch folders for files and lock them automatically select "Folder Watch Settings" from the Options menu.
Then add in the new screen the folders that you want to watch by pressing the "Add" button and selecting them.
Afterward, specify whether to run the folder watch program automatically on Windows Startup and if it will be run only for the current user or the local machine.
Finally, press the "OK" button.
Now, when a file is created in the folder, it is automatically being locked.
When the application is first started it asks you for your desired user interface language.
You can also change the user interface language from the "Language" menu.
