To specify which videos to split :
Press on the "Add Video" button (1) of the main screen and then select the video files you want to add. You can also press on the "Add Folder" button (2) to add the entire video contents of specific folders.
You can also add videos by entering a list of their file paths in a text box, after you select "Enter List of Videos to Split" from the "File" menu.
Simple Video Splitter will display the video files that you have added will be displayed on the grid (6). You can view the videos with the inbuilt video player (7) by selecting them on the grid and then press the play button on the player.
You can also drag-and-drop video files or folders with video files to add them.
To remove a video file from the list, select it on the grid and then press the "Remove" button (3). To clear all the videos from the list press the "Clear" button (4).
After you select a video on the grid, with a right mouse click you can access a menu where you can play the Video, open it, explore the video file, copy the full file path of the video or display info about it.
To split video, you have added press on the "Split Videos" button (5).
Alternatively, you can easily select the videos in Windows Explorer and then do a mouse right click and select "Split with Simple Video Splitter" from the menu. Simple Video Splitter will split the videos with the lastly selected split settings. Please note that you have to check the "Integrate into Windows Explorer" checkbox while installing the application to do that.
To import lists of videos to split, on the main screen select from the "File" menu, "Import Videos from Text File" (3) to import list of videos from text files, "Import Videos from Excel File" (5) to import list of videos from Excel files, or "Import Videos from CSV File" (4) to import list of videos to join from CSV files.
One video file path should be on each line of the list file. You can also specify the column of the file paths of the Excel or CSV file.
This means that in case you want to import videos from a Text Files the text file should contain the locations of the videos on the hard drive e.g. "c:\documents\videos\myvideo1.mp4", one location on each line only.
In case you want to import the videos from CSV files then a specific column of the CSV file should contain the locations of the videos on the hard drive. For example a line of the CSV file could be something like this :
"Video for Test","15/7/2019","c:\documents\videos\myvideo1.mp4".
You have to also specify if the CSV file has headers by checking the "Has Headers" checkbox and also you have to specify the number of the column of the CSV file that contains the location of the videos. Enter the number of the column in the text box called "Video File path Column". In this example it is 3.
Afterwards, press the "Browse" button to select the "CSV" file and press the "OK" button and wait for the application to import the videos.
If you want to import videos from Excel files then you have to select one column and enter on this column the locations of the videos on the hard drive e.g. c:\documents\videos\myvideo1.mp4. One video file location on each cell of the column.
Afterwards, you have to specify if the Excel file has headers by checking the "Has Headers" checkbox. Also enter the column that contains the file location of the videos in the text box "Videos to Join Column".
Moreover, press the "Browse" button to select the Excel file and then press the "OK" button and wait for the application to import the videos.
If you select "Save Current Selection" (7) from the file menu, you will save a text file list with the currently added videos which can help you if you want to reuse this list later. Then you can import this list, as was described earlier.
To set various options of the application you can use the "Options" menu.
To specify what will be done when the splitting process is finished, select an option from the "When Done" menu (2). The application can shutdown, sleep, hibernate, logoff , explore the file e.t.c. when the join process has finished successfully.
To specify the format of the filename that is automatically generated for the split part file select "Options" (1) from the "Options" menu.
By default, the filename without the extension will have the format [FILENAME]-[START_TIME]-[END_TIME]-[N]. [FILENAME] represents the filename without the extension of the video. [START_TIME] corresponds to the start time of the split part, [END_TIME] corresponds to the end time of the split part, [DURATION] corresponds to the duration of the split part and [N] corresponds to the split part number.
On this screen, you can also specify what will happen in case a file with the same filename already exists. If the application will overwrite it, skip it, rename it, add a prefix or a suffix to it e.t.c.
After Simple Video Splitter finishes the process, you can test the generated split video by selecting from the "Tools" menu, "Play Last Output File" that will play the video in the in-built player. You can also select "Open Last Output File" which will open the video with your default video player, "Explore Last Output File" which will open and select the video file in Windows Explorer. You can also select "Copy Full File path of Last Output File" which will copy to the clipboard the full file path of the first split part. Lastly, you can select "Video Info of the Last Output File" to show info about the generated split part file.
